Bianca Severijns transforms hand-torn paper into intricate vessels, blankets, garments and art works that echo the rhythms of nature and life. Some pieces resemble nests, while others take the form of grand, wearable furs - protective yet delicate, like quills on an echidna’s back, forming an illusive armour.
For the 2019 Venice Biennial Personal Structures 'Identities', she created a wall installation of protective blankets and a video, symbolising fundamental human rights, security, and freedom.
