Jack Rocks II

The Amorphophallus Titanum is the world’s largest inflorescence (a collection of flowers) native to the rainforests in Sumatra. It gets its Corpse Flower name from the strong odor it produces in order to attract local pollinators, like carrion flies and beetles. The costume is made from 15 metres of sandwashed satin and devore viscose velvet, all pleated by the wonderful team @ciment. Each pleat had to be hand stitched in place in a process that took over a week of straight work.

Jack Rock's Final illustrations for their second graduate costume project, The Edinburgh Biomes Project  This lineup was designed as a site-specific dance performance based in the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh to educate audiences on their glasshouse reconstruction project. The dance consists of 7 different costumes inspired by different, unique species held in the RBGE, and further exploration into the traditional textiles used where each plant is native to.

Miya Turbull

Canadian artist Miya Turbull has created a unique self portrait of shifting identity with multiple masks.

"My masks are three-dimensional self-portraits- a combination of photography, sculpture and collage. They are photo-realistic but often altered- for example, I might change the placement or even erase select facial features, or cut up and re-attach masks together in unusual combinations. I use photo elements within my work to create an uncanny resemblance within my masks, in addition to capturing images of myself wearing these facades."
