Echo Morgan I

Echo Morgan (real name Xie Rong) was born in China, Echo studied at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute High School before moving to London where she gained a BA in Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins and then an MA in Fine Art at Royal College of Art. Since 2011, She has been collaborating with photographer Jamie Baker on photographic interventions within her performance work. Echo often uses costume or full body paint for her performance art. 

Angel Chen - Les Noces

Angel Chen - Les Noces (The Wedding) from her BA Hons Fashion: Fashion Design Womenswear show summer 2014. This is another exuberant and exciting collection with that exotic merging of cultures, ideas and palettes creating something truly unique, but with flavours from historical, folk and tribal costume.

Vega Zaishi Wang

Vega Zaishi Wang's collections are characterized by there simple elegance and perfect tailoring. However this AW 2014 collection has the wonderful contrast of these clean lines combined with surreal hairy shoes.

Justin Chu

"My thesis collection explores the notion that an evolutionary perfection is unattainable because standards of perfection are always in flux. I design for a woman constantly changing, one who is never settled on one way of living."       Justin Chu

 Justin Chu's clothes are full of dynamic cuts, silhouettes and drama, beauty and elegance Justin won the Empowering Imagination Competition this year at Parsons The New School for Design.

Ban Xiao Xue I

Ban Xiao Xue's work has wonderful texture and form inspired by nature and using natural materials such as wool for which he was awarded the prestigious International Woolmark Prize. in 2012 he launched his self titled label.

"Let's forget about fashion design for a moment and go back to the basics of nature. Nothing bears more beauty than the most common things one can find in great Mother Nature: the flowing springs, the blooming flowers, the sunshine, the soil, the air, the sky… All we need to do is to see and listen. Mother Nature has given us the most beautiful clothes: They have feelings, they bear memories, they are so simple but also so magic. Let them flow naturally through people’s bodies, let them integrate with the trees and grass, let them take the textures of the mountains and rivers, and let them reconcile in the utmost harmony. "I became a little nervous when I was awarded the Woolmark Prize, as it means that I will represent China in the global final which brings pressure but also great motivation. My winning design was inspired by my respect for nature. Nature provides all the beauty to us, and I’m just using my eyes to discover them and put them together. Winning the Regional Woolmark Prize makes me even more determined to work as a successful designer, and to create more exceptional designs as a return to the external support I have received from Woolmark, Vogue China and all those who have supported me in this process." Yiqing Yin I

Amazing structures of layered pleats producing a textured garments resembling coral or magnified detail or organic structures like electron micrographs by designer Yiqing Yin.
'Examining the dynamic potential of pleats, she imagines structures which are never fixed, shapes that are always in mutation. She sculpts the emptiness around the body with, as a common thread, the search for balance and points of rupture between the flowing zones and the sculpted zones. The modernisation of smocking and the elimination of any order of construction, allows her great room for experimentation.'

Yiqing Yin 

Jin Chong Yu

These double exposed fashion images by Jin Chong Yu certainly explore the idea of a second skin, the translucent effect is magical.

Jin Chong Yu has his own fashion brand which he established in Shanghai 'Lesjin' and he also works as a fashion director and a fashion stylist on many shoots for various publications.

Guo Pei I

I thought this wedding dress by China's only couture fashion designer Guo Pei was simply incredible the intense primary colours, the detail and texture come together in an awe inspiring spectacle. This dress was part off Guo Pei's 'Legend of the Dragon' show staged in Bejing in 2012

Lin Tianmiao

One of Lin Tianmiao's earliest memories is of helping her mother sew clothes for the family so it is not surprising that fabric and thread play such an important part in Lin's sculptures and installations. These costumes are part of a body of work called 'Here or There' which was made as a collaboration with her partner Wang Gongxin 2002 I love the translucence, the layering and the dramatic shapes of these costume structures. They are like ghosts or spirits, but they also have a danger about them.

Wang-Lei Hand

Wang-Lie Hand created these incredibly beautiful garments that have the same visual quality as wool and felt. through a process of knitting toilet paper. His newest work again recreates traditional garment forms, but now Wang Li Hand is incorporating newspaper cuttings that imbue the clothing with social and political meanings.
