Alexis Stiteler creates hand drawn garments.

I once heard that every time you recall a memory you lose the reality of what the original event was. My work explores this idea by gathering and abstracting objects collected from my experiences by drawing on textiles and paper.

My work is heavily built on my compulsions : think repetition. I have a tendency to over think and re-evaluate, and the method by which I make creates soothing routine and predictability. I draw using aqueous paint which lends itself well to playing with light and density with each crosshatched image. As I recall and render these objects, I celebrate the past and how it becomes abstracted and made new by the passage of time.
