Jenny Ellery

Absolutely loved the vibrance and fun of Jenny Ellery's degree show at ECA. Jenny loves playing with materials textures and colours and the textiles/ clothes she creates are wonderful.

Through experimentation of maliable materials and exploraration of aplication I will continue to develop new and engaging tangible fabrics to adorn the body. I want to let process inform the outcome by documenting interaction and leting it inform the next stage of my development. Sampling will become larger scale to give more indication to how these textures will interact with the body. I want to analyse the tactile things we love and develop my own fabrics to replicate this and enhance feeling. Research into sensitive areas of the body will help me decide on product outcomes. I want to explore the hidden areas of garments such as linings so tactilitly is exeriences inside and out.

Kat Murray II

Wonderful fun illustrations by Kat Murray building the characters for her costumes from imagination and collage.

Kat Murray I

I spent yesterday evening at the ECA degree show. I had seen Kat Murray's granny at the fashion show last month, but I really enjoyed being able to see all of the details on the costume and her wonderful illustrations and designs. Kat Murray's granny is grotesque and full of humor and observation, a strange hunchback loaded with sweets and treats, the best granny you could wish for.

Emily Buchanan

I absolutely loved looking through the work of Emily Buchanan at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design degree show this week. I loved the thoroughness of her research and the incredible results of her natural dying. It had elements of amazing cooking and mad scientist, a wonderful body of research and knowledge.

Angélica García

"Everyday I lose you… time, You are like water that slips away from me. Presence. Moment. Movement. How can I do to show how you run from me? How can I show that even if I freeze you, then you aren't the same? How if I steal your essence, I don’t have you anyway? Strange presence… Emptiness."
Angélica García

Beautiful distressed photographs by Angélica García exploring the theme of loss and loneliness. I would love to see her working on a look book.

ECA Fashion Show 2014: Emma Lawrie

Emma Lawrie's graduate collection concentrated on knitwear, this is contrasted with her use of sheer fabric and interesting embellishment of silhouette figures, like tiny shadow puppets dancing on the translucent areas of her designs.
