Nino Cubinishvili is a Georgian creator who has worked extensively within costume design. Nino's sculptural forms with extremes of silhouette create expressions of the human condition, making emotion into forms of fashion and costume. Nino Cubinishvili seeks and pushes boundaries in clothing using materials such as wood, leather and metal to realise her creative goals.

"I use recycled and reclaimed materials as a response to the throwaway culture of consumerism. My chosen medium depends on the concept I am exploring. I love to re-use materials if I can sew on it I will usually work with it! My work explores the potential of communicating a social message through the use of discarded household items, including plastic carrier bags and newspapers, using them as a format for machine embroidery." 1950's style silhouettes are combined with soft translucent layering and transparent panels. The collection is inspired by 1950's and 60's sci-fi works of Zenna Henderson.haunting tales of humanoids forced to emigrate to earth.

Children's Samplers

Amazing samplers from Wemyss School of Needlecraft. These all struck me as they are all by children and the detail and beauty of the work is stunning.
