Paula Ulargui Escalona

The base fabric of the cape is 100% industrial recycled wool. This fabric has the necessary characteristics for plants to root within the fabric, retaining moisture, but without suffocating the roots.

Cultivation:

The plant growth process is done by hydroponic cultivation, a new trend of cultivation from water. All the nutrients that plants need are incorporated into the water (vitamins and minerals, nothing chemical). Likewise, these nutrients are not the most important thing, the care of light, humidity, temperature and environment are the parameters that are most studied and controlled so that plants grow well and strongly.

People involved:

For this great project, I have been lucky enough to continue collaborating with my great friend Juan Ressia. I started this adventure years ago with him. Paula Ulargui Escalona

Andy Warhol II

Yesterday I was really lucky to have a days conference in the Dovecot Galley, Edinburgh, a total treat day. Currently there is an exhibition of Andy Warhol's screen printed textiles. I have blogged about these before six years ago after seeing an exhibition with some of his works in New Lanark. The exhibition at the Dovecot has more examples of the fabric designs and clothes and was a bright start to spring with it's joyful celebration of Andy's favourite things preserved in bright printed fabric designs of toffee apples and melon, acrobats and art supplies. The exhibition is running until the 18th of May if you can go and catch it.
